Getting Started with Therapy

  • Finding a counselor who’s the right fit is one of the most important parts of the process. Please call (208) 803-5339 or email moc.liamg%40retnecssenllewdnehtron, and we’ll discuss your needs and match you with a therapist who best suits your needs.

  • Maybe. Maybe not. But if something in your life feels hard, stuck, overwhelming, or just ready for a change, therapy can help. From doctors to plumbers to roofers, we turn to professionals to help us. Therapy is no different—even therapists go to therapy (yep, we really do). If you’re curious, we’ll offer honest feedback, no pressure. And when you start therapy with us, we’ll check in regularly to make sure it’s working for you.

  • You can expect a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can speak freely. When here in our comfortable environment, most clients quickly feel at ease and begin to make meaningful progress.

You are the expert in your life. We’re just here to help you sort through it all and make meaningful changes—at your pace, on your terms. If you’re engaged and apply what you learn outside of sessions, you’ll likely notice positive changes relatively quickly.

What Therapy Is Like

  • Every session is a little different, but you can expect a thoughtful conversation tailored to your needs. You won’t be lying on a couch while we silently scribble notes. You’ll talk, we’ll listen, and together we’ll work toward change—whether that means processing pain, building skills, or finding clarity.

  • While each session is unique, some common elements include:
    ● You set the pace and decide what to share● It’s conversational, you won’t be lying on a couch● Therapists might use visual aids, worksheets, or whiteboards● Emotions may surface, and we’ll help you navigate them● You may get “homework” like journaling, reflection, or skill practice● Participation truly matters. What you put in helps drive progress

  • Here are a few ways to get the most from your sessions:● Show up open and engaged● Practice what you learn between sessions● Use tools like journaling, mindfulness, or reading● Reinforce the positive—notice your wins● Set small goals and build gradually● Share what you’re learning (teaching helps growth!)

We’ll work with you to find the method that best supports your goals.

  • We work with people across the lifespan—kids, teens , adults, and older adults. Let us know who’s seeking therapy, and we’ll pair you with someone who specializes in that age group.

  • Therapy works best when you feel safe and understood. If it’s not a good fit, we’ll help you switch to another therapist—no awkwardness. We want you to feel supported, not stuck.

Scheduling & Appointments

  • Most clients begin with weekly 50-minute sessions. As you progress, you might meet less frequently. Therapy can be short-term (a few sessions) or longer-term, depending on your goals.

  • Some of our therapists do! Just let us know your availability, and we’ll do our best to match you accordingly.

  • Yes. All of our clinicians offer secure telehealth sessions for clients who prefer to meet remotely or live outside the Boise area.

  • Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged a $100 fee. To make changes, just call or email us.

Insurance & Payment Questions

  • We’re considered fee-for-service providers, which means you pay at the time of your session. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, you can submit claims to your insurance company—and many clients do receive reimbursement.

  • Here’s a general breakdown of our session fees:● Initial Evaluation: $250● Individual Therapy: $175● Private Pay Individual: $150● Private Pay Assessment: $200● Relationship/Family Therapy: $175

  • We accept cash, checks, debit/credit cards, and HSA cards.

Is Therapy Right for Me?

  • Yes. What you share stays private, with a few legal exceptions—like if there’s a serious safety concern or suspected abuse. We’ll review this in your first session so you know exactly what to expect.

  • Therapy can help with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, burnout, trauma, and relationship issues. But it’s also for self-discovery, setting boundaries, and learning to live with more ease and intention. Whether you're overwhelmed or just feeling stuck, therapy can offer tools, insight, and relief.

  • You’re not being dramatic. If something is bothering you enough that you’re thinking about therapy, then it’s worth exploring. Therapy is for anyone who wants to feel better, grow, or get support navigating life. That includes you.

  • Not really. Medication can help relieve symptoms, and therapy can help resolve the root cause. For some people, both together are ideal. If you're wondering about this, we’ll help you think through it and coordinate with your doctor if needed.
